Other Services
The Portsmouth Mediation Service (PMS) is able to offer a range of services in addition to Mediation, most of these bringing added value particularly in that they offer organisations:
- the skills and experience of a specialist dispute resolution service
- ability to demonstrate innovative and external (to the organisation) options for dealing with issues, concerns and complaints of people (e.g. customers, service users, clients, etc)
- access to impartial and independent input.
The following examples are not exhaustive and the PMS offers an open and flexible approach, so contact the PMS to discuss all possible options which may apply.
Assisting in ensuring that individuals are heard at meetings / discussions
- Applying techniques so that individuals are given the opportunity to feel that they have “had their say” and “been heard”, including where some of those involved may not be as able to articulate their views as others.
Assisting individuals / organisations in finding ways of improving communications in the future
- Applying skills and techniques to promote understanding and agreement regarding ways forward, possibly including agreed protocols being identified.
Facilitating interviews, meetings, or sessions between individuals where communication has broken down or there are difficulties occurring
- Using skills and techniques to open up communication, encourage discussion and assist in enabling outcomes to be found.
Independent and impartial information gathering in cases of disputes between individuals / groups of people
- Interview and assessment process resulting in submission of written report of findings. If required and applicable, this may include PMS "opinion" and "balance of probabilities" comments.
